The trademark chant of the Irish in their pomp — Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole — echoed around Portrush last night after County Offaly-born Shane Lowry produced a new course record of 63 to take a four-stroke lead into today’s final round of the Open. Hopes of an Irish winner at the first Open to be held in Northern Ireland since 1951 could not be stronger.
