NASA news: Space Station astronaut snaps breathtaking pictures of ISS 250 miles in space – Express.co.uk

NASA said: “NASA astronaut Andrew Morgan works while tethered on the Port 6 truss segment of the International Space Station to replace older hydrogen-nickel batteries with newer, more powerful lithium-ion batteries.

“The batteries store and distribute power collected from the station’s basketball court-sized solar arrays, one of which is directly behind Morgan.”

The space station’s batteries keep the orbital laboratory powered when the ISS enters the nightside of the planet.

The ISS flies around Earth at speeds of around 17,000mph and completes a lap every 90 minutes.
