VERO BEACH, Fl (KKTV) – A Colorado Springs man is now tied to a sex trafficking investigation in Florida. It’s part of the same sting that’s brought allegations against New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Police spent months investigating illegal sex acts and human trafficking at massage parlors across Florida.
11 News has learned the Indian River Sheriff’s Office has an active warrant for 51-year-old Randall Bower of Colorado Springs. He’s one of more than 100 men who now have warrants for soliciting prostitution at the spas.
“There were very little massages going on,” said Vero Beach Chief David Currey.
The entire operation spanned multiple massage parlors in Florida. The Associated Press reports that 10 have closed in locations that stretched from Palm Beach to Orlando. Multiple law enforcement agencies spent six months on an investigation that has yielded nearly 200 arrest warrants.
Investigators say the working conditions were horrible inside the different spas. Many of the women were forced to live in the spa and saw an average of 1,500 clients a year.
“What happens is they’re under false pretenses,” said Lt. Dan Cook with Vero Beach Police. “They’re getting here. They have their massage licenses. Now, they’re being told they’re going to perform sex acts.”
Investigators have also arrested the owners of the different massage parlors. They face charges including racketeering, unlawful transportation for prostitution, engaging in prostitution, and deriving support from prostitution.
Some men on the list are wealthy, prominent figures. Police say others are religious leaders and even former law enforcement.
